1974 World Champions Celebrate 40 Years-USA Men’s Eight

On Friday June 6, the 1974 World Champion USA Men’s Eight will reunite for a commemorative row at the North Palm Beach Rowing Club, in Jupiter, Florida. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the crew’s historic win in Lucerne, Switzerland. The men will row in their original lineup; Coxswain Dave Weinberg, Al Shealy stroke, Hugh Stevenson 7, Dick Cashin 6, Mark Norelius 5, Mike Vespoli 4, John Everett 3, Ken Brown 2, and Tim Mickelson bow. The crew was coached by the legendary Al Rosenberg who passed away in 2013.

The crew will launch at 10 AM and will be available for a meet and greet at the conclusion of their row on Friday. The celebration will coincide with US Rowing’s National Learn to Row Day on June 7th, where the North Palm Beach Rowing Club will be hosting an open house at their facilities for anyone interested in learning more about rowing.
