Celebrating Champions

Team Vespoli.  To celebrate the outstanding work our craftsmen and women have done all year we held a cookout a few weeks ago.  Team Vespoli built more championship winning boats this year than any one year in our history.   To help share in this celebration we invited some of the coaches whose crews were victorious in Vespoli boats in 2010.  Our guests included Will Porter and Kate Maloney from Yale, winners of 3 Varsity NCAA 8 winners and 1 JV winner in the last four years;  Justin Moore winner of 6 NCAA titles while at Williams (and 2009 Junior Women’s 8 Gold World Championships),  Liz Trond of Connecticut Boat Club who had just swept the girl’s senior sweep events at the US Junior Nationals;  Steve Hargis, 2008 Coach of Junior Women’s World Champions in the 8+ and a surprise guest:  good friend and great coach Brian Richardson. Brian coached the Australian men’s 8 in the 2000 Olympics to a silver medal in a Vespoli (finished second to Great Britain, who won in a Vespoli). The celebration was a great way for our staff to meet and learn from these outstanding coaches.
